Hace 2 días · Otto Dix. Painter, printmaker, watercolorist. Known especially for his caustic portraits of postwar German society. Studied in Dresden from 1910 to 1914, where he encountered art of the Brücke and began painting in a colorful, emotionally exaggerated and gestural style.

Now, several previously unknown Dix watercolors have been rediscovered. They were turned up by the Duesseldorf gallery owners Peter Barth and Herbert Remmert while working on an exhibition to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Dix’s birth in 1891.

Otto Dix was born on December 2, 1891 in Untermhaus. He was the oldest son of Ernst Franz Dix, an iron foundry worker, and Pauline Louise Dix, a seamstress.
These spectacularly vibrant watercolours collectively form the first of five such childrens books that Dix would make during his lifetime.
