Notable work. The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989) Peter Greenaway, CBE (born 5 April 1942) is a British film director, screenwriter and artist. His films are noted for the distinct influence of Renaissance and Baroque painting, and Mannerism painting in particular.

Shortly afterwards he started to make his own films. He has produced a wealth of short and feature-length films, but also paintings, novels and other books.
