Philosophy of mind is a branch of philosophy that studies the ontology and nature of the mind and its relationship with the body. The mind–body problem is a paradigmatic issue in philosophy of mind, although a number of other issues are addressed, such as the hard problem of consciousness and the nature of particular mental states.
This is why it was said earlier that philosophy of education is connected with general philosophy more directly by its methods than by its therapeutic purposes. Philosophy of education focuses on the language of educational theory and practice. The nature of these areas and the relationship between them now need to be examined.
The philosophy of Chinese Chan Buddhism and Japanese Zen is based on various sources; these include Chinese Madhyamaka , Yogacara , the Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra, and the Buddha nature texts. An important issue in Chan is that of subitism or "sudden awakening", the idea that insight happens all at once in a flash of insight.
