Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (Kasteel Sarcenat bij Clermont-Ferrand, 1 mei 1881 – New York, 10 april 1955) was een Franse paleontoloog, pater jezuïet en theoloog. Teilhard de Chardins leven stond in het teken van zijn behoefte het christelijk geloof in overeenstemming te brengen met de evolutietheorie .
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was born on May 1st, 1881 to Emmanuel and Berthe-Adele Teilhard de Chardin. While both of his parental lineages were distinguished, it is noteworthy that his mother was the great grandniece of Francois-Marie Arouet, more popularly known as Voltaire.

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, (born May 1, 1881, Sarcenat, France—died April 10, 1955, New York, N.Y., U.S.), French philosopher and paleontologist. Ordained a Jesuit priest in 1911, he taught geology from 1918 at the Institut Catholique in Paris. In 1929 he directed the excavations at the Peking man site at Zhoukoudian.
