The whole book of Psalms has been divided into five books or sections (Ps. 3-41, 42-72, 73-89, 90-106, and 107-145). The reason for these divisions is that each section has a final poem, which concludes with a similar line that looks like an editorial addition, “May the Lord, the God of Israel, be blessed forever.
Commentary on Psalm 41:1-4. (Read Psalm 41:1-4) The people of God are not free from poverty, sickness, or outward affliction, but the Lord will consider their case, and send due supplies. From his Lord's example the believer learns to consider his poor and afflicted brethren. This branch of godliness is usually recompensed with temporal blessings.
