Richard Trevithick (13 April 1771 – 22 April 1833) was a British inventor and mining engineer. The son of a mining captain, and born in the mining heartland of Cornwall, Trevithick was immersed in mining and engineering from an early age.

18 de abr. de 2024 · Richard Trevithick (born April 13, 1771, Illogan, Cornwall, England—died April 22, 1833, Dartford, Kent) was a British mechanical engineer and inventor who successfully harnessed high-pressure steam and constructed the world’s first steam railway locomotive (1803).
Richard Trevithick. Ingeniero mecánico e inventor británico y uno de los pioneros del ferrocarril. Entre sus diversos inventos cabe mencionar una bomba de achique. Ideó y construyó una locomotora a vapor de alta presión, que fue instalada en País de Gales ( 1803 ).
La historia de la industria ferroviaria no puede contarse sin describir la interesante vida de Richard Trevithick, el inventor pionero de las primeras máquinas de vapor, que sentó las bases para la construcción de todos los futuros sistemas ferroviarios que se utilizan hoy en día.
La invención del motor de vapor de agua estimuló al inglés Richard Trevithick a desarrollar una máquina que reemplazó al caballo y otras fuerzas para impulsar vagones. Así nació, en 1804, la primera locomotora de la historia.
