Sir Robert Gordon Menzies KT AK CH QC FAA FRS (20 December 1894 – 15 May 1978) was an Australian politician and lawyer who served as the 12th prime minister of Australia from 1939 to 1941 and 1949 to 1966.

Robert Gordon Menzies was the longest serving Prime Minister of Australia. He held the office twice; from 1939 to 1941 and from 1949 to 1966. In total, he was Prime Minister for more than 18 years, with his second term of 16 years being the longest uninterrupted tenure ever. Born in an ordinary family, he grew up to be an accomplished lawyer.
Robert Menzies – ‘Bob’ Menzies or Mr Menzies – was Australia’s longest-serving Prime Minister. In 1944 he helped found the Liberal Party, which in terms of winning elections has been the most successful party in Australian federal politics.
