He was made a member in 1705 of Prince George of Denmark’s Council, which controlled the affairs of the navy during the War of the Spanish Succession (1701–14).

20 de mar. de 2024 · Houghton Hall was erected in the 1720s for Britain’s first prime minister, Sir Robert Walpole. It was a collaboration between the two defining British architects of the time, Colen Campbell and James Gibbs, in the then very fashionable Anglo-Palladian style.
