Hace 17 horas · John Basilone was a 1/7 Marine when he earned the Medal of Honor at Guadalcanal. At the time, the battalion was under the command of then-Lieutenant Colonel Lewis “Chesty” Puller. Puller earned his third (of an eventual five) Navy Cross while commanding the unit in that same action at Guadalcanal.
