Saalfeld (German: Saalfeld/Saale) is a town in Germany, capital of the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district of Thuringia. It is best known internationally as the ancestral seat of the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha branch of the Saxon House of Wettin.

Victoria, Duchess of Kent, was born Victoria Mary Louisa, Princess of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, at Coburg on 17 August 1786. Her first marriage in 1803 was to the Prince of Leiningen, with whom she had a son, Charles, and a daughter, Feodora.
Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld was reformed on 29 July 1735, although Coburg and Saalfeld had had the same ruler since 1699. As only men could be the rulers of the duchies, Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld ceased to exist in 1825, when the last male descendant of the dukes of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg died.
