Well, you have to understand that the 2002 movie went through what was quite possibly the wildest production cycle for a Resident Evil project that ISN'T Resident Evil 4: Many scripts were brushed aside, including one where Chris and Jill actually had intercourse, one that was even more of a generic Sci-Fi action film (but with the characters from the games) and one by George A. Romero.
