Research areas include biomedical engineering, sustainable energy, mechatronics, natural language processing, network systems, computer imaging and medical computing.
Students in per unit programs who complete undergraduate or graduate courses in other programs at Simon Fraser University, or who complete courses at other institutions covered by the Western Deans’ Agreement, will pay the same fee per unit as they do for courses in their own programs. Submit the payment 5–7 days prior to the final deadline to allow for processing time. Application Fees for programs starting Spring & Summer 2024: $90 for applicants with Canadian transcripts, $125 for applicants with international transcripts. Current SFU graduate students can request a fee waiver (email gradap@sfu.ca).

Graduate Diploma in Education (GDE) programs are designed in collaboration with BC school districts for educators whose primary focus is school-based practice. The GDE provides educators with the opportunity to engage in focused, sustained, reflective inquiry into their practice within a 2-year cohort model.

Sudents in this program take courses to fulfill the program requirements towards the degree. The MEng program is designed for full-time or part-time students who want to take some graduate courses to improve their competitiveness in the job market.
