He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for becoming the first person to sail single-handed around the world by the clipper route and the fastest circumnavigator , in nine months and one day overall in 1966–67.

  7. 28 de abr. de 2022 · Sir John Chichester, Knt., married the daughter of John, Lord Raleigh, by which the Chichesters became one of the most important families in northern Devonshire. He was either of Treverbin in Cornwall, or he was of Donwer in Somerset. Sir John assumed the arms of Raleigh in place of the old arms of Chichester. He died before 1399. See "My Lines".
