Szczecin ( [ˈʂt͡ʂɛt͡ɕin] ⓘ; Duits: Stettin, Nederlands, verouderd: Stettijn) is een stad in Noordwest- Polen en de hoofdstad van het woiwodschap West-Pommeren. Met 404.878 inwoners (eind 2016) is het de zevende stad van Polen. De stad ligt aan weerszijden van de rivier de Oder, met het centrum op de linkeroever.

21 de jun. de 2021 · 1. Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle. Founded in the 14th century, the castle for the Dukes of Pomerania got its marvellous Late Renaissance architecture in the 1570s. After the Peace of Westphalia it was the seat of Szczecin’s Swedish governor, before the Queen of Poland moved in at the start of the 18th century.
14 de may. de 2020 · The Tower of Seven Mantles, situated to the east of the Castle and dating back to the 13th century, is the only surviving element of one of the medieval gates which led to the town. Its mysterious name probably alludes to the local tailor guild that used to pay for the tower’s maintenance. 3. Bulwar Piastowski.
Szczecin (/ˈʂt͡ʂɛt͡ɕin/ ) eller Stettin [3] på svenska (; tyskt uttal: [ʃtɛˈtiːn]) är en hamnstad vid floden Oder i nordvästra Polen och huvudort i Västpommerns vojvodskap. Stadskommunen hade 2018 cirka 403 900 invånare (727 000 inom hela storstadsområdet) och är därmed den största staden i vojvodskapet och Polens sjunde största stad, med administrativ powiatstatus .
Der Name Stettin. Stettin findet sich zuerst in Urkunden aus den Jahren 1140 und 1223 wieder, hier wurde die polnische Stadt erstmalig in Urkunden genannt. In Quellen, die aus dem Norden stammen, wird der Name Stettin mit “Burstaborg” übersetzt. Bis in das 19 Jahrhundert hinein wurden verschiedene Schreibweisen für Stettin genutzt.
