Hace 2 días · Restoration progress. Works have continues apace and now the tin hat and plastic sheeting have been removed. Very soon the scaffolding will disappear too. Now passers-by can see the results of many hours work by engineers, bricklayers, heritage conservation and admire the sensitively restored machine house for Fourdrinier No.2 (the green machine).

Following his military exploits, the Duke was active in politics, though not always popular. Mobs so regularly broke the windows on the ground floor of his home that he had them covered with steel shutters.

Following the 1660 Stuart Restoration , he took part in the Second Anglo-Dutch War , and sat as MP for Thetford from 1661 to 1679.
