28 de abr. de 2024 · The Crowd King Vidor, 1928 The young King Vidor had scored an immense success with The Big Parade (1925), a fictional account of a ‘down-to-earth American doughboy’ experiencing the Great War, which played for two years in New York, making a fortune for MGM and establishing both Vidor and its star, John Gilbert.
For The Crowd (1928), cinemas were given the option of two versions of the movie, one with a conventional happy ending and one with this ending, which director King Vidor preferred. Vidor said most cinemas chose the version with his original ending : r/silentmoviegifs.
