The early modern period is a historical period that is part of the modern period based primarily on the history of Europe and the broader concept of modernity. There is no exact date that marks the beginning or end of the period and its timeline may vary depending on the area of history being studied.
The early modern period (1500–1700) brought several significant changes in the lives of the English people. The most dramatic were perhaps the Reformation, the subsequent dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th century, and the devastating Civil War during the next.
The modern era or the modern period, also known as modern history or modern times, is the period of human history that succeeds the post-classical era (also known, particularly with reference to Europe, as the Middle Ages), which ended around 1500 AD, up to the present.
