Typical scenarios: 1) A new email arrives in my Outlook inbox. I preview, or read the email. I attempt to delete the email. Operation cannot... message appears.

The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook”.

Scroll down to find conversation clean up and uncheck the option ‘when a reply modifies a message, don’t move the original.’.
