Iltutmish. Shams ud-Din Iltutmish ( Persian: شمس الدین ایلتتمش; died 30 April 1236, r. 1211–1236) was the third of the Mamluk kings who ruled the former Ghurid territories in northern India. He was the first Muslim sovereign to rule from Delhi, and is thus considered the effective founder of the Delhi Sultanate .

The 13th-century square tomb of Iltutmish in the north-western part of Quwwatu’l-Islam marks the beginning of the tradition of constructing royal tombs, a practice followed as late as the Mughal era in India. The tomb-chamber is profusely carved with inscriptions and geometrical and arabesque patterns associated with Saracenic tradition.
The tomb of the Delhi Sultanate ruler, Iltutmish, a second Sultan of Delhi (r. 1211–1236 AD), built 1235 CE, is also part of the Qutb Minar Complex in Mehrauli, New Delhi. The central chamber is a 9 mt. sq. and has squinches , suggesting the existence of a dome, which has since collapsed.
22 de sept. de 2021 · It is the tomb of the successor and son-in-law of Qutbuddin Aibak as well as the second sultan of the slave dynasty, Iltutmish. This mausoleum was built by him in 1235, lying in the north-western corner of the complex. He made his tomb near the extended Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque.
The tomb of Iltutmish is also nearby. Built by the emperor himself, it is one of the first tombs in Delhi. Tourists can also head to the Mehrauli Archaeological Park that houses Balban’s tomb.

Shams al-Din Iltutmish Tomb. Delhi, India. The Mausoleum of Shams al-Din Iltutmish (reg. 1211-1236), is located in the northwest corner of the Qutb complex next to Iltutmish's own extensions to the Qutb Mosque. The sandstone structure is square, measuring 9.1 meters along each side, with a height of 8.41 m to the base of the (conjectured) dome.
