Roman slaves did resist slavery, most notably in some of the famous large scale slave rebellions (Spartacus and the third servile war being the most famous). Sometimes resistance to slavery is as simple as keeping your native language, religion, not performing as well as you can at your work, sabotaging work, etc., and a lot of that kind of resistance goes unnoticed.
