The director's cut of THX-1138 is a fine example of what's wrong with Mr. Lucas. The expensive digital imagery he added to the cut is jarring and distracting. Meanwhile, one of the most effective images in the film is a low-budget, low-resolution CRT image of a bloody corpse being dragged out of the laboratory after an industrial accident.
