La elección de Timothy Dalton como nuevo James Bond pretendió actualizar esta longeva franquicia del cine. De expresión más estoica, el cuarto actor que encarnaba a 007 fue la apuesta por la calidad interpretativa, con la intención de dar vida a un James Bond más realista y creíble; este nuevo Bond era más agresivo, frío y violento.
