  1. Toluidine Blue O (TBO) is a thiazine dye of the quinone-imine family and is cationic in nature. It has been employed in polychromatic staining of paraffin embedded plant cell walls. It is a metachromatic dye suitable for a wide variety of histological staining procedures.

  2. Toluidine blue O (C.I. 52040) for microscopy Certistain ® is adry dye that is used for the preparation of a staining solution for staining nuclei and for visualization of metachromasia. As a CERTISTAIN ® dye it is chemically quality-certified according to highest standards and strict specifications.

  3. Toluidine blue solution is used in testing for lignin, a complex organic molecule that bonds to cellulose fibres and strengthens and hardens the cell walls in plants. A positive toluidine blue test causes the solution to turn from blue to blue-green. [1] . A similar test can be performed with phloroglucinol - HCl solution, which turns red.

  4. Toluidine blue (also known as tolonium chloride) is an acidophilic metachromatic dye that selectively stains acidic tissue components (sulfates, carboxylates, and phosphate radicals). Toluidine blue (TB) has an affinity for nucleic acids, and therefore binds to nuclear material of tissues with a high DNA and RNA content.[ 2 ]
