Wiley Hardeman Post (November 22, 1898 – August 15, 1935) was a famed American aviator during the interwar period and the first pilot to fly solo around the world. Known for his work in high-altitude flying, Post helped develop one of the first pressure suits and discovered the jet stream.

This record-breaking flight demonstrated several significant aviation technologies. It used two relatively new aeronautical devices—an autopilot and a radio direction finder.

His initial record time of seven days, 18 hours, and 49 minutes has since been trimmed down to less than 47 hours, an effort accomplished by the 'One More Orbit' team in 2019.
