The Pine Grove Cemetery Chapel was built in 1907 and was designed by Architect William Butterfield. On July 19, 2012, the chapel building was designated as being eligible to be listed on the National Historic Register. In 1943, the State of Maine Legislature established a Board of Trustees to be in charge of the administration of the cemetery.
Edwin B. Morgan of Aurora was the company's first president, and Wells, William Fargo, Johnston Livingston and James McKay were on the boards of both Wells Fargo and American Express.  In September 1853, Wells Fargo & Company acquired Livingston, Wells & Company, which had been its express and banking correspondent in England, France and Germany.
The town itself is mostly Victorian, yet some much older buildings still remain. 19th Century Victorian Gothic architect, William Butterfield, designed a lot of Rugby’s buildings, including much of Rugby School.
Sir Frederick's daughter, Marie-Louise Roosevelt Butterfield (1889–1984), married in 1918 and later became Marie-Louise Roosevelt Pierrepont, Countess Manvers. Sir Frederick died in 1943 and on 21 July of that year his daughter Marie-Louise, Countess Manvers inherited the Cliffe Castle Estate and took some of the contents of Cliffe Castle to her home at Thoresby Hall .
