At 10 a.m. the next morning, William Lyon Mackenzie King’s body was committed to the ground in the family plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto. He was laid to rest beside the remains of father and beloved mother. Mackenzie King left a vast legacy.
25 de nov. de 2023 · King’s mother, Isabel Mackenzie, was the daughter of William Lyon Mackenzie of 1837 Rebellion fame, born in the U.S. during her father’s exile. It was said that King was a good student, active in debates and sports, popular among his peers, and trusted by his elders. King’s social activism has its roots in his early life.

William Lyon Mackenzie King had a long political career. He was leader of the Liberal Party for 29 eventful years through the buoyant expansion of the 1920s, the depression of the 1930s, the shock of World War II, and then the post-war reconstruction, and for 21 of these years he was Canada’s prime minister.
