From its earliest days as the Irish Champions Athletic Club, Lansdowne emerged from quite modest beginnings – it was widely regarded as Trinity’s second string for several years – to establish itself as one of the top clubs in Ireland, attracting players from all corners of the country and beyond.

He was a patrilineal descendant of Lord Burghley and the 1st Earl of Salisbury, chief ministers of Elizabeth I. The family owned vast rural estates in Hertfordshire and Dorset.

In recent years, Lansdowne Yonkers FC has grown in to a powerhouse in the NY soccer and US soccer scene by taking on and challenging for the National title every year. In 2017, the dream became reality when Lansdowne Yonkers FC became National champions.
