The State Defense Forces are true military entities under State law and are under The command of The Governor of The State and Adjutant General (Senior National Guard Commander of the State). They are subject to the same Military Law & Regulations as the Army National Guard, Air National Guard or Naval Militia (US Navy Reserve & US Marine Corps Reserve).
21 de mar. de 2024 · The National Guard Bureau recently released CNGBI 5500.01, the directive that guides National Guard Interaction with State Defense Forces (SDF). The National Guard Bureau worked with the Adjutant General’s (TAG – Senior National Guard General) of many states to develop the document.
Those state defense force members who subsequently serve in the active or reserve federal forces of the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or United States Air Force (i.e., on active duty or as members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard Reserves) may not continue to wear and display such decorations on a military uniform.
Recommendation A. The Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, in coordination with the Office of General Counsel, clarify the position of the Department and characterize the level of coordination and interaction between the DoD Components and State Defense Forces permissible by statute. 18 de dic. de 2023 · Now The National Guard Bureau cannot directly order State Defense Forces to change their uniform due to Federal law 32 U.S.C. s.109 which gives full authority of State Defense Forces / State Guards to The Governor of the State, however The Adjutant General is the individual who supervises The State Guard / State Defense Force and can recommend to The Governor to implement such a directive.
10 de dic. de 2021 · The Georgia State Defense Force recently graduated a new IET (Initial Entry Training / Basic Training) class of troops. The State Defense Forces are mostly made up of prior service US Military service members, those with no prior service background must undergo this Basic Training to instill basic military courtesies, discipline, and training.
