Edward Maria Wingfield, sometimes hyphenated as Edward-Maria Wingfield (1550 in Stonely Priory, near Kimbolton – 1631) was a soldier, Member of Parliament (1593), and English colonist in America. He was the son of Thomas Maria Wingfield, and the grandson of Richard Wingfield.

Edward-Maria Wingfield was the only member of the Virginia Company’s leaders to go to Jamestown to oversee his investment and became the colony’s first president. Wingfield came from wealthy stock in England and served in the military in Holland and Ireland.
Although Edward Maria Wingfield is well known by reason of his part in the settlement of Virginia, he has not previously been identified with the ‘Edward Wingfeild esquire’ who sat in the Parliament of 1593.
