  4. Steeped in Neoplatonic sources, Cornelius Gemma (1535–78) was a philosopher and physician who sought unity in multiplicity. In his quest for connections between the various parts of his world picture, Gemma moved from singularities to ever higher principles.

  5. The "Belgian John Dee", Cornelius Gemma (1535-1578) was a son of the famous mathematician and cosmographer Gemma Frisius. He was a professor of medicine at the University of Louvain.
