Henry Bennet, 1st Earl of Arlington, KG, PC (1618-1685) was an English statesman. He was an influential royal favourite, served as Keeper of the Privy Purse, and procured royal mistresses. He was made Secretary of State for the Southern Department in 1662. Arlington was knighted in March 1657 and obtained a peerage as Baron Arlington in 1665.

Distrustful of France, as secretary of state Bennet was similarly flaccid in falling in with Charles II's French policies. He contrived Charles's first secret treaty of Dover with Louis XIV in May 1670, was granted a barony in 1665 and promoted to an earldom in 1672.
