  2. Henry Bennet, 1st Earl of Arlington, KG, PC (1618-1685) was an English statesman. He was an influential royal favourite, served as Keeper of the Privy Purse, and procured royal mistresses. He was made Secretary of State for the Southern Department in 1662. Arlington was knighted in March 1657 and obtained a peerage as Baron Arlington in 1665.
