The Hawker P.1127 and the Hawker Siddeley Kestrel FGA.1 are the British experimental and development aircraft that led to the Hawker Siddeley Harrier, the first vertical and/or short take-off and landing jet fighter-bomber.

The Hawker Siddeley Harrier is a British jet-powered attack aircraft designed and produced by the British aerospace company Hawker Siddeley. It was the first operational ground attack and reconnaissance aircraft with vertical/short takeoff and landing (V/STOL) capabilities and the only truly successful V/STOL design of its era.
As a test pilot, he was heavily involved in the development of the Hawker Siddeley P.1127 and latterly the BAE Harrier. During his aviation career Farley flew over 80 different types of aircraft and was the first British pilot to fly the Mikoyan MiG-29.
El Hawker Siddeley Harrier, coloquialmente llamado jump jet (en inglés: reactor saltador ), es un avión de ataque a tierra y reconocimiento desarrollado en la década de 1960 que formó la primera generación de la serie Harrier.
Built in 1963 by Hawker Siddeley Aviation at Kingston and Dunsfold, this sixth and last P.1127 became the first to feature a swept (Kestrel) wing. The first flight was made from Dunsfold by Bill Bedford on 13/02/64, with a Pegasus 5 engine, as the prototype Kestrel.
