Edoardo Amaldi (Carpaneto Piacentino, Italia, 5 de septiembre de 1908 - Roma, Italia, 5 de diciembre de 1989) fue un físico italiano. Fue cofundador y secretario general de la Organización Europea para la Investigación Nuclear (CERN), de la Agencia Espacial Europea y del Instituto Nacional de Física Nuclear de Italia.

Edoardo Amaldi (5 September 1908 – 5 December 1989) was an Italian physicist. He coined the term " neutrino " in conversations with Enrico Fermi distinguishing it from the heavier " neutron ". He has been described as "one of the leading nuclear physicists of the twentieth century."

8 de dic. de 2008 · Edoardo Amaldi was a leading figure in Italian science in the 20th century, particularly in fundamental experimental physics. He contributed to nuclear physics in the 1930s and 1940s, and to cosmic rays and particle physics in the post-war years, then became a pioneer in the experimental search for gravitational waves in the 1970s.
