Madame Elizabeth Charlotte, Duchess of Orléans (born Princess Elizabeth Charlotte of the Palatinate, German: Elisabeth Charlotte; 27 May 1652 – 8 December 1722), also known as Liselotte von der Pfalz, was a German member of the House of Wittelsbach who married into the French royal family.

27 de ene. de 2016 · Princess Elizabeth Charlotte was born on 27 May 1652 at Heidelberg Castle as the daughter of Charles I Louis, Elector Palatine and Landgravine Charlotte of Hesse-Kassel. She was known by the name Liselotte. She grew up with her aunt Sophia of Hanover, due to her parents’ unhappy marriage.
She was variously known as 'Liselotte', 'La Palatina' or simply 'Madame', her honorific title. Her two surviving children, Philippe, duc de Chartres (1674-1723) and Elisabeth Charlotte, duchesse de Lorraine (1676-1744), both depicted here, each went on to play significant roles in French political life.
