It took place on the same day as other district council elections in the United Kingdom. [1] These were the first elections to the new unitary council, which has come into effect on 1 April 2019.

A belt of chalk crosses the county from north-west, where it forms the Hampshire Downs , to south-east, where it is part of the South Downs .
