It starts at two termini in the capital, London Victoria and London Bridge, and the branches from each meet at East Croydon, from where the route continues southwards via Gatwick Airport to the coast.

The Crystal Palace transmitting station, one of the tallest structures in London, has the unique job of beaming terrestrial television into millions of homes in the capital and the Home Counties. Its range extends as far north as Stevenage in Hertfordshire and as far south as Sussex, according to the BBC.

In turn, 5GB was replaced by the new Droitwich Midland regional transmitter on 17-Feb 1935. Daventry is best remembered as a major Short Wave transmitting site.
