This first cabinet was dominated by aristocrats (prince Essad Pasha Toptani defence and foreign affairs, prince Gjergj Adhamidhi bej Frashëri finances, prince Aziz Pasha Vrioni agriculture). His brief reign proved a turbulent one.
Carrera militar. Durante la Guerra austro-prusiana de 1866, fue teniente general del 2º Ejército. Entre 1870-71 participó en la Guerra franco-prusiana . Entre 1893 y 1897 fue comisario imperial y jefe militar del cuerpo de enfermeros voluntarios en el ejército. En 1893 fue nombrado General de Infantería honorario.

In March 2011, he and Catherine set up a gift fund held by The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry to allow well-wishers to donate money to charities supporting the armed forces, children, the elderly, art, sport and conservation in lieu of gifts.
