Sorø (Danish pronunciation: [ˈsoːˌʁœˀ]) is a town in Sorø municipality on the island of Zealand in east Denmark with a population of 8,271 (2023). It lies on the northeastern shore of Sorø Lake .

Sorø Municipality (Danish: Sorø Kommune) is a kommune in the Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand in east Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 317 km 2 (122 sq mi), and has a total population of 30,444 (2023). The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Sorø.
Sorø ligger på Midtsjælland og har 8.271 indbyggere (2023). Byen ligger i et område med skove og adskillige søer, hvoraf Sorø Sø og Tuelsø er de største. Den sydlige bydel hedder Frederiksberg og den nordlige Pedersborg. På Frederiksberg ligger Sorø station med jernbaneforbindelse mod øst og vest.
